In the courses the choreographies that were started earlier are continued, i.e. at the basic level, we are dancing a joyous alegría and at the advanced level, we continue to practise the elegant sevillanas with bata de cola.
Alegrías is a cheerful palo that belongs to the cantiñas style and originates from the province of Cádiz. In terms of expression, alegrías can be happy, light, flirtatious, energetic or elegant, the song can tell about the home region, the twists and turns of love, maritime themes are also common. In addition to choreography, the course introduces the movement language of alegrías and trains body control and tapping.
Sevillanas is a folk dance which popular at fiestas, with movement language characteristic of flamenco. It can be danced in pairs, alone or in a group and, for example, with a manton or a fan. In Erika’s course, we learn sevillanas with bata de cola. In addition we learn an advanced level escobilla for alegrías.
