Miguel Poveda & Jesús Guerrero – Poema del Cante Jondo
The five-time Grammy-nominated Catalan flamenco singer Miguel Poveda embarks on a musical journey alongside one of Spain’s most acclaimed flamenco guitarists, Jesús Guerrero. Together, they bring to life the evocative poetry of Federico García Lorca’s Poema del Cante Jondo.

This work is one of Lorca’s most essential pieces, deeply rooted in his fascination with flamenco and Andalusian folk traditions. Cante jondo refers to the most profound and emotionally intense form of flamenco, capturing the raw essence of the art form. Lorca connects cante jondo to Spanish culture and identity, exploring its historical and social dimensions. His poetry both honors this tradition and seeks to understand the human condition through music.

Poveda and Guerrero’s 2024 album Poema del Cante Jondo is an intimate encounter with the roots of flamenco—a unique fusion of Lorca’s poetic vision and the expressive artistry of voice and guitar. The emotional depth of cante jondo intertwines with Lorca’s reflections on the soul of flamenco.

Now, at Jazzclub Fasching, two of contemporary flamenco’s greatest performers take the stage, joined by the sensational percussionist Paquito González and the extraordinary flamenco dancer Sonia Poveda. ¡Ay!
