Maria Garriga started dancing at Lilian Karina Vásárhelyi’s ballet school as a 4-year-old for Anne Wigert. At the same school, she gave her first dance lessons in children’s dance and classical ballet. She furthered her education at the Academy of Dance, specializing in Children’s Dance Pedagogy and Flamenco/Spanish Dance. She has her foundation in classical ballet but found her roots in Spanish dance. Danced in i.a. Carmen Lucena’s Flamenco Dance Company. For the past 17 years, she has mainly worked as a teacher with children’s dance, flamenco and dance mix at Stockholm’s leading dance schools.
“Through dance, we develop our creativity, which contributes to strengthening the self-esteem that is the basis of all learning. The lessons are based on joy and the desire to express yourself in dance as an obvious language. We train our sensitivity and practice being considerate of our surroundings. Exercises that contribute to dance technique, strength, flexibility and rhythm are obvious ingredients in every lesson. Music that inspires both movement and stillness. Order and order versus controlled chaos, dance and play in all seriousness!”
