This workshop is an introduction to the Spanish flamenco singing tradition through singing some of the traditional song verses, letras. We will also learn about the rich rhythmics of flamenco through the palmas hand clapping. To take part in the workshop you don’t need any previous experience from singing, flamenco or the Spanish language.

Anna Murtola, flamenco singer, Palo Nuevo
The workshop is taught by flamenco singer Anna Murtola. One of the pioneers of flamenco singing in Finland, Anna started her flamenco singing studies in the beginning of 2000’s and has studied in Spain with the top artists and teachers. She has a wide experience in teaching and developing teaching methods for flamenco singing, especially for Finnish and other non-Spanish students. Anna has a Master’s degree in music from the Nordic Master of Global Music programme between Sibelius Academy and the Danish Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and she works as a performing freelance artist.
Teaching language is Finnish or English, depending on the students’ needs.
